WHO WE ARE
We have been around martial arts for over three decades, starting with wrestling, leading to kickboxing, and then focusing on Brazilian jiu-jitsu. Along the way, we have accomplished the most important thing, which is calmness, understanding, and awareness of the value of martial arts. In jiu-jitsu, you face your own pride and ego; you face it every time you train and some days it gets the better of you. Because of this, those who continue in the Art, for the most part, grow an appreciation for others, genuine respect, and a humility that goes with knowing no matter how big you are, you can get choked out by someone half your size.
The value we strive to grow is nestled in the between. It is the invisible value beyond technique, beyond physical improvement, and remains unseen. The value is only visible to those who invest time into your training and it becomes very apparent when that growth occurs in practitioners because you see them become 'more' than what they started out as. The journey is transcendent and amazing to see in those around you; this is what we strive to develop
THE NAME
In order to be successful in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, you need to build relationships with your Professor, your Coaches, and other students. Those relationships are built on mutual success: you train with another student to develop your skills and they do the same. It is only through a symbiotic relationship that we can grow in the practice of this art.
WHAT ARE WE DOING HERE?
Symbiont looks to bring BJJ to everyone. We promote self-defense, the study and growth in the martial art, and even the progression of some into the sport of BJJ. We want it to be affordable, universally accessible via online training opportunities, and locally available with on-premise training for those who desire to do so. Our history is in grappling, combat sports, self-defense. For over 3 decades we have been training, competing, and teaching these arts. Through all this experience, we have concluded that the most positive climate for unifying people and connecting is in this area.
